“Let your thoughts be positive for they will become your words. Let your words be positive for they will become your actions. Let your actions be positive for they will become your values. Let your values be positive for they will become your destiny.”

It is an exciting time for Happy Living – this is our 100th blog post and next week is our company’s 1-year anniversary! This past year has been filled with highlights, but the icing on our anniversary cake is the growing community of Happy Living supporters & readers. Connecting with you means the world to us!

Whether you have been reading from our first post or recently joined the Happy Living community, we thought it would be fun to look back at this past year. If you have a favorite post that we do not mention, leave a comment, tweet us @veryhappyliving, or connect on Facebook!

Who Are We?

It’s been awhile since we introduced ourselves! So, here are some personal details about us…

Matt Gersper lives on Lake Norman in Mooresville, North Carolina. He founded Happy Living after selling a global-trade business that he spent ten years building. Now he’s dedicated to researching and sharing best practices for happy living. His goal is to inspire others to believe that a better self is always possible – today, every day, for the rest of their lives. Tweet with Matt @mattgersper and add him as a Fitbit friend ([email protected]).

I’m Kaileen Elise and I live in Austin, Texas. I helped launch Happy Living after six years of corporate recruiting. In that time, I managed the hiring process for over 400 employees at three high-growth companies. My happy living practices include eating healthy (I’m a huge fan of Whole30), practicing yoga, traveling, and spending time with inspiring people. Connect with me on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest as well as my personal blog.

Foundations of Health

The Seven Foundations of Health are the guiding force for what we research, practice, and share on the blog. We use these foundations as a touchstone as we pursue partnerships and make decisions for our business. And naturally, the foundations of health influence the choices we make in our own lives.

Matt has shared several of his philosophies and personal practices for happy living. His Philosophy for Lifelong Exercise is a reader favorite! If you want to implement a practice of lifelong fitness, Matt recommends giving yourself permission to stop running and start wearing a Fitbit.

Something Significant

Something Significant is our popular series about the pursuit of significance. Significance is a foundation of health, a key to happiness, and what gives life meaning.

Reader favorites include interviews with David Williams of Make-A-Wish, fourth-degree Black Belt Tae Kwon Do Master Karen Conover, and three coaches of U.C. Davis football. We have some excellent interviews coming up – if you have an interview recommendation, we’d love to hear from you!

Expert Guests

We do not claim to be experts in a particular field. Rather, we are students of creating a good life and we’re dedicated to sharing ideas for happy living. Because of this, we love partnering with experts who can share their unique knowledge and experience!

Our guest posts from Dr. Tom Sult have been incredibly popular, especially his miniseries on functional medicine: The Goal is Wellness and How to Find a Functional Medicine Doctor.

Stephanie Dunne’s guest posts have also struck a chord with readers. She is a Registered Dietitian who’s dream is to help people improve their overall wellness through optimal nutrition. Her approach to personalized nutrition and trying new foods is refreshing.

Looking Ahead, Our Mission, and YOU

Matt and I are attending the Paleo f(x) Conference in Austin, TX on April 24-26. Reach out if you’ll be there too – we would love to meet you in person. We are also hosting a weekend retreat in Sedona, AZ later this year. Stay tuned for more details!

We’re on a mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the world, one person at a time. Our goal is to help YOU – our community – live long with health, abundance, and compassion! We are pleased to have readers throughout the US and in more than ten countries. As we grow, our focus will remain on sharing ideas, products, and resources for happy living.

Let us know if you have ideas, inspiration, questions, or comments. Be sure to subscribe to our email list for updates and fresh blog posts. We look forward to another year, the next 100 posts, and connecting with you!
